Job Description
Hiring.zycto is seeking a dedicated and experienced Small Engine Repair Technician to join our bustling shop team in the heart of Glenora, Edmonton. Key Responsibilities
- Perform diagnostic tests to determine the cause of equipment malfunctions and failures.
- Execute repairs and maintenance on various small engines, including 2-stroke and 4-stroke gasoline engines, and small diesel engines.
- Conduct routine preventative maintenance, tune-ups, and inspections of equipment.
- Disassemble, repair, and reassemble engine components, including carburetors, ignition systems, fuel systems, and starting mechanisms.
- Order and maintain an accurate inventory of parts and supplies required for repairs.
- Communicate clearly and effectively with customers regarding repair estimates, progress, and completed work.
- Document all repairs, parts used, and service performed accurately and thoroughly.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Provide technical advice and support to customers on equipment operation and maintenance.
- Continuously update knowledge of new equipment models, technologies, and repair techniques.
Required Skills
- Minimum 3 years of verifiable experience in small engine repair and diagnostics.
- Proven ability to troubleshoot and repair a wide variety of small engines and power equipment.
- Strong understanding of engine mechanics, electrical systems, and fuel systems.
- Proficiency with diagnostic tools, multimeters, and specialized repair equipment.
- Excellent manual dexterity and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Valid Class 5 driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Fluency in English (written and verbal communication).
Preferred Qualifications
- Completion of a recognized Small Engine Mechanic or Power Equipment Technician program.
- Experience with specific brands commonly serviced in the local market (e.g., Honda, Stihl, John Deere).
- Familiarity with inventory management systems.
- Customer service experience in a repair shop setting.
- Welding or fabrication skills are a plus.
