Hiring.zycto is seeking a highly motivated and analytical Smart Grid Analyst to join our pioneering team in Saguenay, Quebec. As a Smart Grid Analyst, you will play a pivotal role in the integration of renewable energy sources, electric vehicles, and other distributed energy resources (DERs) into the existing grid. Your work will involve utilizing advanced analytics tools and modeling techniques to predict system behavior, assess the impact of new technologies, and develop strategies for grid resilience. You will collaborate closely with engineers, operations personnel, and IT specialists to translate data insights into actionable recommendations and implement innovative solutions that directly impact our customers and the environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform in-depth analysis of smart grid data, including meter data, sensor data, SCADA data, and other operational information, to identify patterns, trends, and anomalies.
  • Develop and maintain key performance indicators (KPIs) and dashboards to monitor grid health, reliability, and efficiency.
  • Utilize statistical analysis, machine learning, and predictive modeling techniques to forecast grid demand, generation, and potential issues.
  • Support the integration of distributed energy resources (DERs), electric vehicles (EVs), and energy storage systems into the existing grid infrastructure.
  • Collaborate with engineering, operations, and IT teams to translate analytical insights into actionable strategies and system improvements.
  • Conduct simulations and scenario planning to evaluate the impact of various grid modernization initiatives and technology deployments.
  • Prepare comprehensive reports, presentations, and visualizations to communicate complex data findings and recommendations to stakeholders.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of new data collection, processing, and management systems to enhance analytical capabilities.
  • Stay abreast of emerging smart grid technologies, industry best practices, and regulatory changes.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science, or a related quantitative field.
  • 4+ years of experience in data analysis, particularly within the energy or utilities sector.
  • Strong proficiency in data analysis tools and programming languages such as Python, R, SQL, or MATLAB.
  • Solid understanding of power systems, grid operations, and smart grid concepts.
  • Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to communicate complex technical information effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Proficiency in both French and English (written and spoken).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in a relevant field.
  • Experience with GIS software (e.g., ArcGIS) for spatial data analysis.
  • Familiarity with utility IT/OT systems such as SCADA, DMS, EMS, or MDM.
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity principles as applied to critical infrastructure.
  • Experience with cloud-based data platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP).
