If you are passionate about social justice, possess a deep understanding of cultural nuances, and are eager to empower individuals through crucial transitional phases, we encourage you to apply. You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, external agencies, and legal professionals to deliver integrated and client-centered support, ensuring all services are delivered with empathy, integrity, and adherence to professional standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive psychosocial assessments to identify client needs, strengths, and challenges, particularly those related to immigration status and settlement.
  • Provide expert guidance and direct support on various visa and immigration-related issues, collaborating with legal professionals as needed to ensure accurate information and advocacy.
  • Develop and implement individualized care plans, connecting clients with vital community resources, including housing, healthcare, employment, and educational opportunities.
  • Advocate effectively on behalf of clients with government agencies, legal services, and other organizations to ensure equitable access to services and uphold their rights.
  • Facilitate educational workshops and informational sessions on immigration processes, settlement, and integration for diverse client groups.
  • Maintain accurate, confidential, and up-to-date client records, ensuring full compliance with professional standards, ethical guidelines, and organizational policies.
  • Actively participate in team meetings, case conferences, and continuous professional development activities to enhance service delivery and stay current with immigration policies and social work best practices.

Required Skills

  • Master's degree in Social Work (MSW) from an accredited institution.
  • Registered Social Worker (RSW) designation in British Columbia or eligibility for registration.
  • Minimum of 30 months (2.5 years) of direct social work experience, with demonstrable experience in case management and client advocacy.
  • Strong understanding of Canadian immigration policies, visa categories, and the specific settlement challenges faced by newcomers.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and cross-cultural sensitivity skills, with the ability to build rapport with diverse populations.
  • Proven ability to conduct thorough psychosocial assessments and develop effective, client-centered intervention plans.
  • Proficiency in English; additional language proficiency (e.g., French, Mandarin, Punjabi, Tagalog) is a significant asset.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working specifically with refugee claimants, temporary foreign workers, or individuals undergoing family sponsorship processes.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of trauma-informed practice and crisis intervention techniques.
  • Familiarity with local community resources, non-profit organizations, and social service networks within Vancouver.
  • Experience with integrated service delivery models and multidisciplinary team collaboration.
  • Certification or specialized training in immigration consulting, refugee protection, or related fields.
