Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Solicitor Assistant to join our thriving legal team in Ibrox, Glasgow. This pivotal role offers a unique opportunity to provide comprehensive support across both our Corporate and Family Law departments, making every day diverse and challenging. You will play a crucial part in the smooth operation of our legal services, working closely with experienced solicitors to deliver exceptional client outcomes.
In the Corporate Law department, your contributions will involve assisting with due diligence, drafting corporate documents such as resolutions and minutes, and managing transaction timelines. You’ll gain exposure to commercial contracts, mergers, acquisitions, and compliance matters, requiring meticulous attention to detail and a proactive approach to research and document management. Your organisational skills will be key in maintaining robust filing systems and ensuring all corporate documentation is accurately prepared and readily accessible.
Within the Family Law department, you will provide compassionate and discreet support on sensitive matters including divorce, child arrangements, and financial settlements. This will involve preparing court bundles, drafting correspondence, managing client communication with empathy, and organising case files. You will often be the first point of contact for clients, so a professional and understanding demeanour is essential. Maintaining strict confidentiality and adherence to ethical guidelines are paramount in this area.
This role demands an individual who can seamlessly transition between different legal areas, prioritising tasks effectively and maintaining a high standard of work under pressure. You will be instrumental in ensuring our solicitors have the support they need to focus on complex legal strategies, thereby directly contributing to the firm’s success and client satisfaction. Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and format legal documents, correspondence, and court forms for both Corporate and Family Law cases.
- Manage and organise physical and electronic case files, ensuring accuracy and accessibility.
- Conduct preliminary legal research under the guidance of solicitors.
- Liaise with clients, counsel, courts, and third parties professionally and discreetly.
- Assist with scheduling appointments, managing diaries, and coordinating meetings.
- Process legal aid applications and private client billing, including time recording and invoice preparation.
- Manage incoming and outgoing mail, emails, and phone calls for allocated solicitors.
- Assist in the preparation of court bundles, trial documents, and transaction bibles.
- Ensure compliance with firm procedures, SRA regulations, and data protection guidelines.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 2 years' experience as a Legal Assistant or Paralegal, preferably in a firm with corporate or family law exposure.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Exceptional organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritise effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong interpersonal skills with a professional and empathetic approach.
- Discretion and a strong understanding of client confidentiality.
Preferred Qualifications
