Key Responsibilities
- Assist senior sound engineers with the setup, calibration, and dismantling of audio equipment for various productions and events.
- Perform basic sound checks and troubleshoot common audio issues under supervision.
- Operate and monitor sound consoles (both analog and digital) during live events, ensuring optimal audio levels and quality.
- Participate in the maintenance and inventory management of microphones, cables, speakers, and other audio gear.
- Support recording sessions, including microphone placement and signal routing.
- Learn and apply best practices for audio mixing, mastering, and post-production.
- Collaborate with other production team members to achieve cohesive event and project outcomes.
- Stay updated on industry trends, new technologies, and software related to audio engineering.
- Ensure compliance with safety protocols and operational standards for all audio equipment.
Required Skills
- Basic understanding of audio principles, acoustics, and signal flow.
- Familiarity with various types of microphones, cables, and connectors.
- Proficiency in at least one Digital Audio Workstation (DAW) such as Pro Tools, Logic Pro, or Ableton Live.
- Excellent active listening skills and a keen ear for sound quality.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and a proactive attitude.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative team environment.
- Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Physical ability to lift and move audio equipment (up to 50 lbs) and stand for extended periods.
Preferred Qualifications
- A certificate or associate’s degree in Audio Engineering, Music Production, or a related field.
- Experience with live sound reinforcement systems, even from school or volunteer work.
- Knowledge of basic electrical safety and wiring.
- Experience with specific mixing consoles (e.g., Yamaha, Behringer, Midas).
