Hiring.zycto is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Entry Level Sound Engineer to join our growing team in Lakeview, New Orleans. Key Responsibilities

  • Assist senior sound engineers with the setup, calibration, and dismantling of audio equipment for various productions and events.
  • Perform basic sound checks and troubleshoot common audio issues under supervision.
  • Operate and monitor sound consoles (both analog and digital) during live events, ensuring optimal audio levels and quality.
  • Participate in the maintenance and inventory management of microphones, cables, speakers, and other audio gear.
  • Support recording sessions, including microphone placement and signal routing.
  • Learn and apply best practices for audio mixing, mastering, and post-production.
  • Collaborate with other production team members to achieve cohesive event and project outcomes.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, new technologies, and software related to audio engineering.
  • Ensure compliance with safety protocols and operational standards for all audio equipment.

Required Skills

  • Basic understanding of audio principles, acoustics, and signal flow.
  • Familiarity with various types of microphones, cables, and connectors.
  • Proficiency in at least one Digital Audio Workstation (DAW) such as Pro Tools, Logic Pro, or Ableton Live.
  • Excellent active listening skills and a keen ear for sound quality.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and a proactive attitude.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative team environment.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Physical ability to lift and move audio equipment (up to 50 lbs) and stand for extended periods.

Preferred Qualifications

  • A certificate or associate’s degree in Audio Engineering, Music Production, or a related field.
  • Experience with live sound reinforcement systems, even from school or volunteer work.
  • Knowledge of basic electrical safety and wiring.
  • Experience with specific mixing consoles (e.g., Yamaha, Behringer, Midas).
  • A portfolio showcasing personal audio projects, recordings, or mixes.
