Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook a variety of nutritious, appealing, and safe meals (soups, stews, main dishes, side dishes) for large groups, adhering to recipes and dietary guidelines.
- Manage kitchen operations, including inventory control, receiving deliveries, and proper storage of food items.
- Ensure strict adherence to all food safety, hygiene, and sanitation standards (HACCP principles, local health regulations).
- Assist in menu planning and ingredient ordering, demonstrating creativity in utilizing donated or available resources efficiently to minimize waste.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe kitchen environment at all times, including regular cleaning of equipment and workspaces.
- Collaborate effectively with kitchen staff, volunteers, and other team members to ensure smooth service delivery.
- Monitor food quality and presentation, making adjustments as necessary to maintain high standards.
- Report any equipment malfunctions, supply shortages, or safety concerns promptly to management.
- Foster a welcoming and respectful atmosphere for all guests and team members.
Required Skills
- Minimum 1 year of experience in a professional kitchen, institutional, or catering setting.
- Demonstrated knowledge of food preparation, cooking techniques, and food safety standards (e.g., Food Handler’s Certificate).
- Ability to work efficiently and calmly in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
- Physical ability to stand for long periods, lift heavy items (up to 50 lbs), and work in a kitchen environment.
- Flexibility to work part-time hours, including some evenings and weekends as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
