As a Sous Chef at Hiring.zycto, you won’t just be executing orders; you’ll be instrumental in shaping our gastronomic identity. Key Responsibilities
- Assist the Head Chef in the daily operations of the kitchen, including food preparation, cooking, and plating.
- Oversee and manage kitchen staff during service, ensuring smooth and efficient workflow.
- Support in the creation and execution of new menu items, specials, and seasonal offerings.
- Maintain strict control over inventory, ordering, and stock rotation to minimize waste and ensure freshness.
- Ensure all dishes are prepared to the highest standards of quality, presentation, and taste.
- Train, mentor, and supervise junior kitchen staff, fostering a positive and productive team environment.
- Uphold stringent health, safety, and hygiene standards in accordance with food safety regulations.
- Manage kitchen equipment maintenance and cleanliness.
- Assist in managing kitchen budgets and controlling food costs.
- Step in for the Head Chef when necessary, managing the kitchen and taking full responsibility for operations.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Sous Chef or Senior Chef de Partie
- Strong knowledge of culinary techniques and kitchen operations
- Excellent leadership and team management skills
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Exceptional organizational and time management abilities
- Proficiency in menu development and costing
- Comprehensive understanding of food safety and hygiene regulations (HACCP)
- Creativity and passion for food
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Preferred Qualifications
- NVQ Level 3 in Professional Cookery or equivalent qualification
- Experience with diverse cuisine styles, particularly modern British and European
- First Aid certification
- Previous experience in a high-volume restaurant or hotel kitchen
- Knowledge of local Sheffield suppliers and produce
