Job Description

Hiring.zycto is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Education Teacher to join a thriving educational community in Mottram, Manchester. As a Special Education Teacher, you will be at the forefront of creating dynamic and individualised learning experiences. You will be responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) that are tailored to meet the unique academic, social, emotional, and behavioural needs of each student. This involves a deep understanding of various learning disabilities, developmental delays, and other special educational needs.

Your day-to-day will involve designing and delivering differentiated instruction, adapting curriculum materials, and employing a range of instructional strategies to accommodate diverse learning styles. Collaboration is key; you will work closely with general education teachers, parents, therapists, and support staff to ensure a cohesive and effective educational plan for every student. This includes providing regular progress reports, participating in multidisciplinary team meetings, and fostering open communication with all stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and review Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for students with special needs.
  • Design and deliver differentiated instruction and modify curriculum to meet the diverse needs of students.
  • Assess student progress regularly, maintain accurate records, and communicate effectively with parents/guardians.
  • Collaborate with general education teachers, support staff, therapists, and administrators to ensure student success.
  • Manage classroom behaviour effectively and create a positive, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.
  • Utilise a variety of instructional techniques and technologies to engage students with different learning styles.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and professional development opportunities.
  • Advocate for the academic, social, and emotional needs of students with disabilities.
  • Adapt and develop teaching materials to suit specific learning requirements.

Required Skills

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) in the UK
  • Special Education Needs (SEN) qualification or relevant experience
  • Proven experience working with students with a range of special educational needs
  • Strong knowledge of IEP development and implementation
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues, parents, and external professionals
  • Strong organisational and classroom management skills
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Special Education or related field
  • Experience with specific SEN provisions (e.g., Autism Spectrum Disorder, Dyslexia, SEMH)
  • Familiarity with local educational authority guidelines and resources in Manchester
  • Training in specific intervention strategies (e.g., PECS, Makaton, TEACCH)
