Key Responsibilities
- Execute the setup, installation, and focusing of a wide range of lighting fixtures and control systems for live music events.
- Operate lighting consoles (e.g., GrandMA, Hog, Avolites) during rehearsals and live performances, ensuring seamless execution of lighting cues.
- Collaborate with lighting designers, artists, and production managers to understand and achieve the desired aesthetic and technical requirements.
- Perform routine maintenance, testing, and troubleshooting of all lighting equipment, including moving lights, conventional fixtures, LED technology, and control desks.
- Manage and organize lighting inventory, ensuring equipment is in excellent working condition and readily available for upcoming events.
- Adhere strictly to all health and safety regulations, including working at height, electrical safety, and manual handling guidelines.
- Assist with the loading, unloading, and transportation of lighting equipment to and from various venues across London.
- Contribute to the design and programming of lighting sequences, bringing creative flair and technical expertise to each project.
- Provide clear and concise communication with the entire production team to ensure smooth event operations.
Required Skills
- Minimum 3 years of professional experience as a Stage Lighting Technician, specifically within live music or large-scale event production.
- Proficiency in operating and programming professional lighting consoles (e.g., GrandMA, Hog, Avolites).
- Strong understanding of DMX, Art-Net, sACN, and other lighting control protocols.
- Demonstrable knowledge of intelligent lighting fixtures, conventional lighting, and LED lighting technologies.
- Experience with basic rigging principles and safe working practices at height.
- Solid electrical knowledge and understanding of power distribution in event settings.
- Excellent problem-solving skills under pressure and the ability to troubleshoot complex lighting issues on the fly.
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities, with a proven track record of working effectively within a production crew.
- Ability to read and interpret lighting plots and technical drawings.
Preferred Qualifications
- Relevant technical qualification (e.g., BTEC, degree in Technical Theatre, or Lighting Design).
- Experience with CAD software (e.g., Vectorworks Spotlight, AutoCAD) for lighting design and plotting.
- Full UK driving license with experience driving commercial vehicles (e.g., vans, Sprinters).
- Certification in Working at Height or IPAF.
- First Aid at Work certification.
- Experience with media servers and video integration for live events.
