Job Description
Hiring.zycto is seeking a meticulous and dedicated Storekeeper to join our team in Bishopbriggs, Glasgow. This pivotal full-time role is essential to maintaining the seamless flow of our operations, ensuring that all inventory is accurately managed, stored efficiently, and supplied precisely when needed. As a Storekeeper, you will be the cornerstone of our supply chain, directly impacting our productivity and customer satisfaction by upholding impeccable standards of stock control and distribution.
You will be responsible for a wide array of critical tasks, from receiving incoming goods and meticulously checking them against invoices to organizing storage areas for optimal accessibility and safety. Your expertise in inventory management will be crucial as you implement and maintain robust systems to track stock levels, minimize discrepancies, and prepare goods for outgoing shipments. Key Responsibilities
- Receive, unload, and inspect incoming goods, verifying against purchase orders and delivery notes for accuracy and quality.
- Efficiently store goods in designated areas, ensuring proper labelling, rotation, and accessibility.
- Maintain accurate inventory records using our stock management system, conducting regular stock counts and reconciliations.
- Prepare and issue materials, tools, and equipment to internal departments or for external shipments based on requisitions.
- Monitor stock levels and identify discrepancies, reporting any shortages or excesses to management.
- Implement and maintain robust inventory control procedures to minimize waste, loss, and obsolescence.
- Ensure the storeroom and surrounding areas are kept clean, tidy, and organized according to health and safety standards.
- Operate manual and mechanical handling equipment (e.g., pallet jacks, forklifts) safely and efficiently.
- Assist in the loading and unloading of vehicles, ensuring items are handled with care to prevent damage.
- Collaborate with procurement and logistics teams to optimize stock levels and improve supply chain efficiency.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Storekeeper, Warehouse Assistant, or similar role (minimum 3 years)
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Proficiency in inventory management software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word)
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to lift and move heavy objects, and perform physical tasks required for the role
- Understanding of health and safety regulations in a warehouse/storekeeping environment
- Numeracy skills for stock counting and record-keeping
Preferred Qualifications
- Forklift operator certification (e.g., Counterbalance, Reach Truck)
- Experience with specific ERP/MRP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle)
- Previous experience in a fast-paced manufacturing, retail, or logistics environment
