As our Storekeeper, your day-to-day will involve the meticulous organisation, secure storage, and timely issuance of a diverse range of materials, critical supplies, and essential equipment. You will expertly manage incoming deliveries, rigorously verifying contents against purchase orders and invoices, and subsequently updating our advanced inventory management systems with absolute accuracy. We place immense trust in our Storekeepers to ensure that all items are stored safely, efficiently, and in an optimal manner, maximising space utilisation and ensuring immediate accessibility when needed. You will play an indispensable role in preventing stock discrepancies, conducting regular and thorough cycle counts, and actively participating in periodic comprehensive physical inventories to uphold the highest levels of data integrity and accountability.
Beyond the fundamental daily tasks, you will be instrumental in proactively identifying and promptly reporting any discrepancies, damages, quality control issues, or potential shortages, thereby ensuring our consistently high operational standards are met without compromise. This role demands a proactive approach to stock rotation methodologies, guaranteeing that older stock is utilised first to minimise waste and obsolescence. You will foster close collaborative relationships with various internal departments, including procurement, production, and dispatch, to precisely coordinate material requirements and ensure a timely and uninterrupted supply for production schedules or project deadlines. Key Responsibilities
- Manage the receiving, storing, and issuing of materials, supplies, and equipment.
- Verify incoming shipments against purchase orders and invoices, noting any discrepancies.
- Maintain accurate inventory records using a computerised inventory management system.
- Conduct regular cycle counts and participate in periodic physical inventories.
- Organise and maintain the storeroom, ensuring items are stored safely, efficiently, and accessibly.
- Implement and adhere to FIFO (First-In, First-Out) or other stock rotation policies.
- Identify and report damaged, defective, or obsolete stock.
- Prepare materials for dispatch or internal transfer, ensuring proper documentation.
- Collaborate with procurement, production, and other departments to ensure timely material availability.
- Adhere strictly to all health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures within the storeroom.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Storekeeper or in a similar inventory management role (minimum 2 years).
- Proficiency in using inventory management software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Zoho Inventory).
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in record-keeping.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills.
- Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting and moving stock.
- Basic computer literacy (MS Office Suite).
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Forklift operator certification (e.g., counterbalance, reach truck).
- Experience with Lean or Six Sigma principles in a warehousing environment.
- Relevant vocational qualification in logistics or supply chain management.
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations specific to warehousing.
