Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and maintain sterile fields and surgical instruments before, during, and after procedures.
- Assist the surgical team during operations by anticipating needs, passing instruments, supplies, and equipment.
- Ensure proper functioning and readiness of surgical equipment and supplies.
- Perform counts of sponges, needles, and instruments with the circulating nurse to maintain patient safety.
- Assist with patient positioning, skin preparation, and draping for surgical procedures.
- Maintain a safe, organized, and efficient operating room environment throughout the surgical process.
- Adhere strictly to aseptic techniques, infection control policies, and all safety protocols.
- Assist with patient transfer and provide support in post-operative care areas as needed.
- Participate in inventory management, restocking supplies, and ensuring proper disposal of waste materials.
- Collaborate effectively with surgeons, nurses, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare professionals.
Required Skills
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) certification from an accredited program.
- Minimum of 2 years of direct experience as a Surgical Technologist.
- Exceptional proficiency in sterile technique and infection control practices.
- Thorough knowledge of surgical instrumentation, equipment, and their applications.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities for effective teamwork.
- Demonstrated ability to remain calm and focused under pressure.
- Commitment to patient safety and delivering high-quality care.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate's degree in Surgical Technology or related field.
- Experience in multiple surgical specialties (e.g., orthopedics, general surgery, cardiovascular, neurosurgery).
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
- Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems.
- Experience with advanced surgical technologies, including robotic-assisted surgery platforms.
