Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and maintain sterile fields and surgical instruments before, during, and after procedures.
  • Assist the surgical team during operations by anticipating needs, passing instruments, supplies, and equipment.
  • Ensure proper functioning and readiness of surgical equipment and supplies.
  • Perform counts of sponges, needles, and instruments with the circulating nurse to maintain patient safety.
  • Assist with patient positioning, skin preparation, and draping for surgical procedures.
  • Maintain a safe, organized, and efficient operating room environment throughout the surgical process.
  • Adhere strictly to aseptic techniques, infection control policies, and all safety protocols.
  • Assist with patient transfer and provide support in post-operative care areas as needed.
  • Participate in inventory management, restocking supplies, and ensuring proper disposal of waste materials.
  • Collaborate effectively with surgeons, nurses, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare professionals.

Required Skills

  • Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) certification from an accredited program.
  • Minimum of 2 years of direct experience as a Surgical Technologist.
  • Exceptional proficiency in sterile technique and infection control practices.
  • Thorough knowledge of surgical instrumentation, equipment, and their applications.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities for effective teamwork.
  • Demonstrated ability to remain calm and focused under pressure.
  • Commitment to patient safety and delivering high-quality care.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate's degree in Surgical Technology or related field.
  • Experience in multiple surgical specialties (e.g., orthopedics, general surgery, cardiovascular, neurosurgery).
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
  • Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems.
  • Experience with advanced surgical technologies, including robotic-assisted surgery platforms.
