Job Description

Are you an enthusiastic and certified Swim Instructor with a passion for water safety and teaching? Hiring.zycto is actively seeking dedicated Part-Time Swim Instructors to join our vibrant team in the Playter Estates-Danforth neighbourhood of Toronto. Safety is our paramount concern, and you will be responsible for maintaining a vigilant watch over your classes, implementing emergency procedures when necessary, and educating students on safe practices in and around the water.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality swimming lessons to individuals and groups of varying ages and skill levels.
  • Assess swimmers' abilities and progress, providing constructive feedback and adapting teaching methods as needed.
  • Ensure the safety of all participants at all times, strictly adhering to aquatic safety protocols and emergency procedures.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe pool deck and instructional area.
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, and guardians regarding progress, concerns, and program details.
  • Foster a positive, encouraging, and fun learning environment for all participants.
  • Complete administrative tasks such as attendance tracking and progress reports.
  • Collaborate with other aquatics staff and management to ensure smooth program delivery.

Required Skills

  • Current Lifesaving Society Swim Instructor (LSS SI) certification or equivalent.
  • Current Lifesaving Society Bronze Cross or higher certification.
  • Current Standard First Aid and CPR-C certification.
  • Minimum 6 months of experience teaching swimming lessons.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Patience, enthusiasm, and a genuine passion for teaching.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse age groups and skill levels.
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to commit to a consistent part-time schedule.

Preferred Qualifications

  • National Lifeguard (NL) certification.
  • Experience working with individuals with special needs.
  • Additional aquatic certifications (e.g., Aquafit Instructor, First Aid Instructor).
  • Fluency in additional languages.
