Job Description

Hiring.zycto is seeking an astute and highly motivated Tax Consultant to join our growing team in Cathcart, Glasgow. Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and advise on all aspects of VAT, Income Tax, and Corporate Tax compliance for a diverse client base.
  • Prepare and review complex tax computations, returns, and related filings, ensuring accuracy and timely submission.
  • Provide proactive tax planning advice and identify tax-saving opportunities for clients, in line with current legislation.
  • Liaise directly with clients to understand their business needs, explain complex tax issues, and build strong professional relationships.
  • Represent clients in dealings with HMRC, resolving queries and managing audits as required.
  • Stay abreast of changes in tax legislation, advising clients and internal teams on implications and opportunities.
  • Mentor junior team members and contribute to their professional development.
  • Collaborate with other departments to deliver integrated financial solutions to clients.

Required Skills

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a dedicated tax role within an accounting firm or in-house tax department.
  • Proven expertise in UK VAT, Income Tax, and Corporate Tax.
  • Strong understanding of tax legislation and accounting principles.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple client engagements and deadlines effectively.
  • Proficiency in tax software and Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Professional qualification (e.g., CTA, ATT, ACCA, ACA) or actively working towards one.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with international tax considerations or cross-border transactions.
  • Exposure to specialist tax areas such as R&D tax credits, capital allowances, or M&A tax.
  • Previous experience mentoring or supervising junior staff members.
  • A strong network within the Glasgow business community.
  • Experience using specific tax compliance software (e.g., Iris, Alphatax).
