Key Responsibilities
- Safely and efficiently transport passengers to their desired destinations across Edinburgh and surrounding areas.
- Operate company or personal vehicle in accordance with all local traffic laws, regulations, and company policies.
- Provide excellent customer service, including assisting passengers with luggage, maintaining a clean and comfortable vehicle environment, and engaging in polite conversation when appropriate.
- Accurately use navigation systems and possess strong local geographical knowledge of Edinburgh to determine the most efficient routes.
- Manage ride coordination through dispatch systems or ride-hailing applications, accepting and completing trips promptly.
- Collect fares accurately, process payments, and issue receipts as required.
- Perform daily vehicle checks, including fuel, oil, tire pressure, and general cleanliness, reporting any maintenance issues promptly.
- Adhere to all licensing requirements and maintain a valid Private Hire Car or Taxi Driver's license for Edinburgh.
- Ensure passenger safety and comfort throughout the journey.
- Maintain accurate records of journeys, mileage, and earnings as required.
Required Skills
- Valid UK Driving License (Category B minimum)
- Edinburgh City Council Taxi Driver's License (Black Cab) or Private Hire Car Driver's License
- Minimum of 1 year professional driving experience
- Clean driving record with no major endorsements
- Excellent knowledge of Edinburgh's geography, routes, and landmarks
- Strong customer service and interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to use GPS navigation systems and dispatch applications effectively
- Punctuality, reliability, and a professional demeanor
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends
- Basic vehicle maintenance knowledge and commitment to vehicle cleanliness
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with major ride-hailing platforms (e.g., Uber, Bolt, Free Now)
- Familiarity with various payment processing systems for fares
- First Aid certification
- Multilingual abilities, especially in commonly spoken tourist languages
- Advanced driving qualification (e.g., IAM RoadSmart)
