Job Description

Are you a highly skilled Technical Writer with a passion for clarity and precision? Hiring.zycto is on the lookout for a talented individual to join our growing team in Ravelston, Edinburgh. As our Technical Writer, you will be instrumental in creating, maintaining, and enhancing comprehensive technical documentation, user manuals, training guides, and other related content for our cutting-edge products and services. You’ll work closely with product managers, engineers, developers, and support teams to gather information, understand complex functionalities, and translate them into easily digestible and user-friendly materials for various audiences, from end-users to technical professionals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, write, and edit high-quality technical documentation, including user manuals, installation guides, API documentation, online help, and release notes.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts (SMEs), including engineers, product managers, and QA specialists, to ensure accuracy and completeness of content.
  • Translate complex technical information into clear, concise, and engaging content for diverse audiences.
  • Maintain and update existing documentation to reflect product changes and enhancements.
  • Adhere to established style guides, terminology, and branding standards.
  • Manage documentation projects from inception to delivery, including planning, scheduling, and content creation.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of documentation processes and tools.
  • Conduct thorough content reviews for grammar, spelling, punctuation, and overall readability.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience as a Technical Writer in a software or technology-driven environment (minimum 4 years).
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with a strong command of English grammar and style.
  • Ability to understand and explain complex technical concepts clearly and concisely.
  • Proficiency with documentation tools (e.g., Confluence, MadCap Flare, Paligo, Adobe RoboHelp, Markdown, XML editors).
  • Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git).
  • Strong interviewing and research skills to gather information from various sources.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Technical Communication, English, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Experience with Agile/Scrum development methodologies.
  • Familiarity with graphic design tools for creating diagrams and illustrations (e.g., Adobe Illustrator, Snagit).
  • Understanding of user experience (UX) principles and information architecture.
  • Experience with content management systems (CMS).
