Are you a seasoned wordsmith with a passion for simplifying complex technical information? Hiring.zycto is seeking an exceptional Technical Writer to join our growing team in Pollokshields, Glasgow. We are looking for a highly skilled individual who can take ownership of the entire documentation lifecycle – from gathering requirements and planning content to writing, editing, and publishing. You will collaborate closely with software engineers, product managers, and support teams to understand our technologies inside and out, ensuring all technical content is accurate, clear, concise, and consistent with our brand voice and style guidelines.

Your primary focus will be on creating comprehensive user manuals, online help systems, API documentation, release notes, and internal knowledge base articles. Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, write, and edit high-quality technical documentation, including user manuals, online help guides, API documentation, release notes, and FAQs.
  • Collaborate with product managers, engineers, and QA specialists to gather and understand technical requirements and product features.
  • Create and maintain training materials, tutorials, and knowledge base articles for both internal and external audiences.
  • Ensure all documentation is accurate, clear, concise, consistent, and adheres to brand guidelines and style guides.
  • Manage the entire documentation lifecycle from planning and research to writing, reviewing, publishing, and maintenance.
  • Proactively identify documentation needs and opportunities for improvement in content and delivery.
  • Utilize documentation tools (e.g., Confluence, MadCap Flare, Gitbook) to create and publish content.
  • Conduct peer reviews of other technical writers' content to ensure quality and consistency.
  • Incorporate user feedback and analytics to continuously improve documentation effectiveness.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience (3+ years) as a Technical Writer in a software or technology environment.
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills in English, with a strong grasp of grammar and style.
  • Ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear, concise, and user-friendly documentation.
  • Proficiency with modern documentation tools (e.g., Confluence, MadCap Flare, Adobe FrameMaker, Sphinx, DITA XML).
  • Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git) for documentation.
  • Strong understanding of software development lifecycles and agile methodologies.
  • Excellent interviewing and research skills to extract information from subject matter experts.
  • Bachelor's degree in English, Technical Communication, Computer Science, or a related field.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with graphic design tools for creating diagrams, screenshots, and visual aids.
  • Familiarity with various API documentation standards (e.g., OpenAPI/Swagger).
  • Experience creating video tutorials or other multimedia training content.
  • Knowledge of UX principles and how they apply to documentation.
  • Certification in Technical Communication or related fields.
