Key Responsibilities
- Install, configure, and maintain various telecommunications systems, including fiber optics, copper cabling, and wireless networks, for both residential and business clients.
- Diagnose and resolve technical issues related to internet, television, and phone services, ensuring minimal downtime and optimal performance.
- Conduct routine inspections, preventative maintenance, and upgrades on existing infrastructure to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
- Perform site surveys and assessments to determine optimal equipment placement and network routing, adhering strictly to safety and quality standards.
- Provide exceptional customer service, explaining technical concepts clearly and courteously, and ensuring client satisfaction with services rendered.
- Document all service activities, installations, and repairs accurately, maintaining meticulous records for future reference and compliance.
- Adhere strictly to all company safety protocols, industry regulations, and environmental guidelines during all field operations.
- Participate in on-call rotations and respond to emergency service requests as needed, demonstrating flexibility and commitment.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in installing, testing, and maintaining telecommunications infrastructure (e.g., DSL, Cable, Fiber, VoIP).
- Strong understanding of network topology, cabling standards, and diagnostic tools such as OTDRs and cable testers.
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities for complex technical issues in a field environment.
- Valid G-class driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Ability to work independently in various weather conditions and travel extensively within the service area.
- Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
- Physical ability to lift heavy equipment, climb ladders, work at heights, and operate in confined spaces safely.
Preferred Qualifications
- Post-secondary education (diploma or degree) in Telecommunications, Electronics, or a related technical field.
- Relevant industry certifications (e.g., FOA, BICSI, CompTIA Network+).
- Experience with specific telecom equipment vendors or platforms used in the Canadian market.
- Familiarity with local building codes and permitting processes in Ontario.
- Previous experience working with fiber optic splicing and testing.
- First Aid and Fall Protection certifications.
