Job Description

Hiring.zycto is seeking a dedicated and customer-focused Ticketing Clerk to join our essential public transport service in Easterhouse, Glasgow. As a Ticketing Clerk, you will be the first point of contact for many travellers, responsible for accurately issuing tickets, handling payments, and providing crucial information about routes, schedules, and fares. Key Responsibilities

  • Issue various types of tickets and travel passes accurately and efficiently.
  • Process cash, card, and contactless payments, ensuring precise reconciliation.
  • Provide comprehensive information on routes, timetables, fares, and service updates.
  • Assist passengers with enquiries, concerns, and special travel requirements.
  • Maintain a clean, organised, and secure work area, including managing ticket stock.
  • Handle customer complaints and feedback professionally, escalating issues as necessary.
  • Adhere strictly to company policies, security procedures, and public transport regulations.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and supervisors to ensure seamless service delivery.
  • Promote a positive and welcoming environment for all passengers.

Required Skills

  • Proven customer service experience, ideally in a public-facing role.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both verbal and written.
  • Strong numeracy skills and experience handling cash transactions.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Ability to remain calm and professional under pressure.
  • Basic IT proficiency for operating ticketing systems and other relevant software.
  • A proactive and problem-solving attitude.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience within the public transport sector or a similar fast-paced environment.
  • Familiarity with Glasgow's public transport network and key routes.
  • Ability to speak multiple languages is an advantage.
  • SIA or similar security awareness training.
