Hiring.zycto is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Tile Setter – Professional to join our dynamic team in East Bayfront, Toronto. Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, clean, and level surfaces for tile installation, including mortar beds, cement backer boards, and waterproofing membranes.
- Accurately measure and lay out tile patterns, ensuring proper alignment, spacing, and symmetry.
- Precisely cut tiles to fit around obstacles and into intricate designs using manual and power cutting tools.
- Apply adhesive (thin-set mortar, mastic) to surfaces and tiles, ensuring proper coverage and bond.
- Install various types of tiles including ceramic, porcelain, mosaic, natural stone (marble, granite, slate), and glass.
- Apply grout to fill spaces between tiles, clean excess grout, and apply sealants as required.
- Inspect finished installations for quality, ensuring level surfaces, consistent grout lines, and secure adhesion.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment, adhering to all company safety protocols and building codes.
- Communicate effectively with project managers, clients, and other trades to ensure smooth project execution.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 5 years of proven professional tile setting experience.
- Expertise in various tile materials and installation techniques.
- Proficiency with tile cutting tools (wet saws, tile nippers, grinders) and power tools.
- Strong understanding of surface preparation, waterproofing, and substrate requirements.
- Exceptional attention to detail and precision in layout and installation.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics.
- Physical stamina and ability to lift heavy materials and perform tasks requiring bending, kneeling, and standing for extended periods.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to adapt to unforeseen challenges on site.
Preferred Qualifications
- Trade certification in Tile Setting or a related field.
- Experience with specialized tile setting methods (e.g., large format tiles, curbless showers, heated floors).
- Familiarity with current industry standards and best practices.
- Valid G-class driver's license with a clean driving record.
