This physically demanding yet highly rewarding position involves working primarily outdoors in various weather conditions, maintaining rail tracks and associated components to the highest safety and operational standards. You will learn to perform crucial tasks such as inspecting track sections for defects, carrying out routine repairs, and assisting with the replacement of worn-out or damaged track components. Training will also cover the safe operation of specialized maintenance equipment and tools, as well as strict adherence to all safety protocols and regulations. Key Responsibilities
- Participate actively in comprehensive on-the-job training programs to acquire knowledge of track maintenance procedures, safety protocols, and equipment operation.
- Perform manual labour tasks including lifting, carrying, digging, and clearing debris around track areas.
- Assist in the inspection, repair, and replacement of track components such as rails, ties, and ballast.
- Operate hand tools and assist in the operation of specialized power tools and equipment under supervision.
- Follow all safety regulations, company policies, and best practices to ensure a safe working environment for yourself and your team.
- Collaborate effectively with team members and supervisors to complete maintenance tasks efficiently and to a high standard.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, ensuring proper storage and care of tools and equipment.
- Respond to emergency call-outs as required, demonstrating flexibility and commitment to operational needs.
- Report any track defects, safety hazards, or equipment malfunctions to supervisors promptly.
Required Skills
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Valid G Class Driver's License with a clean driving record.
- Ability to perform physically demanding work, including lifting heavy objects (up to 50 lbs), bending, stooping, and standing for extended periods.
- Willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Strong work ethic and a commitment to safety.
