Are you a highly alert, safety-conscious individual with a passion for ensuring order and security on busy construction sites? Hiring.zycto is seeking dedicated Traffic Control Persons (TCPs) to join our esteemed partners in the construction industry within the York University Heights area of Toronto. This is a critical full-time role that stands at the forefront of site safety and operational efficiency, protecting both construction crews and the general public.
As a Traffic Control Person, you will be the eyes and ears of the worksite’s perimeter, responsible for expertly directing vehicular and pedestrian traffic around active construction zones. Your vigilance and clear communication will be paramount in preventing accidents, minimizing disruptions, and maintaining a safe flow of activity. You will work outdoors in various weather conditions, utilizing your keen observation skills and adherence to strict safety protocols to manage complex traffic patterns.

Key Responsibilities
- Safely and effectively direct vehicular and pedestrian traffic using appropriate signals and equipment (e.g., stop/slow paddle, flags).
- Set up and maintain traffic control devices such as cones, barricades, and signage according to approved traffic management plans.
- Communicate clearly and effectively with drivers, pedestrians, and construction personnel.
- Monitor traffic flow and adjust control methods as necessary to ensure safety and minimize congestion.
- Maintain a high level of situational awareness, continuously assessing potential hazards and risks.
- Provide immediate warning to workers and the public of approaching hazards.
- Adhere strictly to all company safety policies, provincial regulations, and traffic control guidelines.
- Work cooperatively with construction crews and site supervisors to facilitate smooth operations.
- Complete daily logs and reports related to traffic control activities and any incidents.
- Be prepared to work outdoors in various weather conditions, standing for extended periods.
Required Skills
- Valid Traffic Control Person (TCP) certification in Ontario (e.g., from IHSA or equivalent).
- Minimum 6 months of proven experience as a Traffic Control Person, preferably in a construction environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong ability to remain calm and focused in high-pressure situations.
- Exceptional spatial awareness and observational skills.
- Commitment to workplace safety and adherence to all protocols.
- Ability to stand for long periods and perform duties in various weather conditions.
- Reliable transportation to various job sites across Toronto.
Preferred Qualifications
- Valid G Class Driver's License with a clean driving abstract.
- Additional safety certifications (e.g., First Aid/CPR, WHMIS).
- Experience working on municipal or provincial infrastructure projects.
- Ability to read and interpret basic traffic management plans.
