Key Responsibilities
- Actively participate in and successfully complete all aspects of the paid training program.
- Learn to safely and efficiently operate transit vehicles in accordance with company policies and provincial regulations.
- Master various routes, schedules, and fare collection procedures.
- Provide friendly, professional, and courteous customer service to all passengers.
- Adhere strictly to all safety protocols and traffic laws.
- Communicate effectively with passengers, dispatch, and other team members.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections.
- Handle unexpected situations with calm and sound judgment.
- Maintain a clean and orderly work environment within the vehicle.
Required Skills
- Valid Class 5 (non-GDL) Alberta Driver's License or equivalent, with a clean driving abstract.
- Ability to obtain a Class 2 driver's license with air brake endorsement (training provided).
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Customer service-oriented mindset.
- Excellent attention to detail and observational skills.
- Reliability and punctuality are essential.
- Ability to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Physical ability to perform the duties of a Transit Operator, including sitting for extended periods and assisting passengers as needed.
