Job Description
Hiring.zycto invites dedicated and resilient individuals to join our vital seasonal team as a Tree Planter based out of Fairview, Halifax. This is an unparalleled opportunity to work outdoors, contribute directly to environmental conservation, and gain invaluable experience in reforestation efforts across Nova Scotia. As a Tree Planter, you will be on the front lines of ecological restoration, planting thousands of seedlings each day to help regenerate forests impacted by natural events, industrial activities, or simply requiring planned reforestation. This physically demanding role requires endurance, mental fortitude, and a strong commitment to teamwork in varying weather conditions and challenging terrain. You will spend your days navigating diverse landscapes, from cleared cut blocks to uneven ground, carrying bags of seedlings and using specialized tools to ensure proper planting. Key Responsibilities
- Accurately plant thousands of tree seedlings daily, adhering to strict quality and density standards provided by supervisors.
- Navigate challenging and uneven terrain, including steep slopes, dense brush, and rocky ground, while carrying heavy loads of seedlings (often 20-40 lbs).
- Utilize specialized planting tools (e.g., planting hoes, shovels) safely and efficiently.
- Maintain the health and integrity of seedlings during transport and planting, ensuring proper root placement and soil compaction.
- Work effectively as part of a team, demonstrating strong communication and collaboration to meet daily planting targets.
- Adhere strictly to all company safety protocols and environmental regulations, wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
- Perform basic maintenance and care for planting tools and equipment.
- Adapt to varying weather conditions, including rain, sun, heat, and insects, while maintaining productivity and a positive attitude.
- Report any issues with seedlings, tools, or site conditions to supervisors promptly.
Required Skills
- Exceptional physical stamina and endurance, capable of performing repetitive tasks for extended periods in demanding conditions.
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions, from sun to rain, and tolerate insects.
- Strong team player with excellent communication skills and a positive attitude.

- Valid Standard First Aid and CPR certification.

- Possession of a valid Class 5 driver's license (or equivalent) and access to reliable transportation to designated meeting points.
