Key Responsibilities

  • Perform a comprehensive range of diagnostic ultrasound examinations (e.g., abdominal, pelvic, obstetric, vascular, small parts, musculoskeletal) in accordance with established protocols.
  • Operate and maintain state-of-the-art ultrasound equipment, ensuring optimal image quality and patient safety.
  • Accurately record and document patient history, clinical findings, and scan results in electronic health records.
  • Collaborate effectively with radiologists, physicians, and other healthcare team members to facilitate patient diagnosis and treatment.
  • Explain procedures to patients, ensuring their comfort, understanding, and cooperation throughout the examination.
  • Ensure the proper daily calibration and quality control of ultrasound equipment.
  • Adhere strictly to all safety protocols, infection control guidelines, and professional standards of practice.
  • Participate in departmental quality improvement initiatives and continuing education programs.

Required Skills

  • Current registration with the College of Medical Radiation and Imaging Technologists of Ontario (CMRITO) as an Ultrasound Technologist (Sonographer).
  • Successful completion of an accredited Diagnostic Medical Sonography program.
  • Minimum of 2 years of recent, relevant experience as an Ultrasound Technician in a clinical setting.
  • Proficiency in performing a wide array of ultrasound examinations, including general, vascular, and OB/GYN.
  • Demonstrated ability to produce high-quality diagnostic images and differentiate between normal and pathological findings.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a patient-first approach.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with advanced modalities such as elastography or 3D/4D imaging.
  • Certification in specialty areas (e.g., ARDMS Vascular Technology – RVT).
  • Proficiency with various EMR systems (e.g., Telus Health PS Suite, Accuro).
  • Bilingualism (English and other common languages in Toronto).
