Key Responsibilities
- Collect, clean, and analyze large datasets from diverse sources, including GIS data, census data, IoT sensors, and open data portals, relevant to urban environments.
- Develop and implement statistical models, machine learning algorithms, and predictive analytics to identify trends, patterns, and insights in urban data.
- Utilize Geographic Information Systems (GIS) for spatial analysis, mapping, and visualization of urban phenomena such as population density, traffic flow, and infrastructure distribution.
- Create interactive dashboards, reports, and presentations to communicate complex data findings and recommendations to non-technical stakeholders effectively.
- Collaborate with urban planners, engineers, public policy experts, and other data scientists to integrate data insights into actionable strategies and policy recommendations.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of urban development projects and initiatives using data-driven metrics.
- Identify emerging data sources and technologies that can enhance urban analysis and decision-making processes.
- Maintain documentation for data processes, models, and analysis methodologies to ensure reproducibility and transparency.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in data analysis and statistical programming languages (Python, R)
- Strong experience with SQL for data querying and manipulation
- Expertise in GIS software (e.g., ArcGIS, QGIS) for spatial analysis and mapping
- Demonstrated experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, Matplotlib, ggplot2)
- Familiarity with urban planning concepts, demographic analysis, and transportation studies
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex technical information clearly
- Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote team environment
- Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Urban Planning, Geography, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related quantitative field
