Key Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough and accurate MOT tests on various vehicle classes (e.g., 4, 5, 7) in accordance with DVSA regulations.
- Perform detailed vehicle inspections to identify mechanical defects, wear, and damage, ensuring full compliance with safety and environmental standards.
- Accurately document all inspection findings, test results, and provide clear reports.
- Advise customers on necessary repairs, maintenance, and compliance requirements in a clear and professional manner.
- Operate and maintain a range of diagnostic and inspection equipment effectively and safely.
- Adhere strictly to all internal company procedures, health and safety guidelines, and industry best practices.
- Stay current with the latest vehicle technologies, MOT regulations, and evolving compliance guidelines through continuous learning and training.
- Collaborate with service advisors and technicians to ensure a seamless customer experience and efficient workflow.
- Maintain a clean, organised, and safe working environment.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of inspection processes and customer service excellence.
Required Skills
- DVSA Accredited MOT Tester (minimum Class 4 & 7, Class 5 desirable)
- Proven experience as a Vehicle Inspector or Qualified Mechanic within a professional garage or testing station.
- In-depth knowledge of vehicle mechanics, diagnostics, and various automotive systems.
- Strong understanding of current MOT regulations, vehicle safety standards, and environmental compliance.
- Exceptional attention to detail and strong analytical problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency in using a variety of diagnostic tools and inspection equipment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of explaining technical information clearly.
- Ability to work efficiently and accurately both independently and as part of a team.
- Full, clean UK Driving Licence.
Preferred Qualifications
- NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Light Vehicle Maintenance & Repair.
- Additional MOT testing classes (e.g., 1 & 2).
- Experience with vehicle emissions testing and diagnosis.
- Previous customer service experience in an automotive setting.
- Familiarity with digital inspection systems and workshop management software.
