Key Responsibilities
- Perform thorough and accurate MOT tests on all classes of vehicles in accordance with DVSA regulations and standards.
- Conduct additional vehicle compliance inspections, including pre-purchase checks and fleet audits, as required.
- Identify and document vehicle defects, failures, and non-compliance issues with precision and clarity.
- Operate and maintain all inspection equipment, ensuring calibration and functionality.
- Complete all necessary paperwork and digital records accurately and promptly, maintaining comprehensive inspection logs.
- Adhere strictly to health and safety regulations, ensuring a safe working environment.
- Communicate effectively with service advisors and technicians regarding inspection results and repair recommendations.
- Stay updated with the latest changes in MOT legislation, vehicle technology, and industry best practices.
- Provide exceptional customer service when interacting with vehicle owners, explaining findings professionally.
Required Skills
- Valid DVSA MOT Tester certification (Classes 4 & 7 minimum)
- Proven experience as a Vehicle Inspector or MOT Tester, ideally 2+ years
- Comprehensive knowledge of vehicle mechanics, systems, and diagnostic procedures
- Strong understanding of current MOT test standards and DVSA regulations
- Excellent attention to detail and analytical problem-solving skills
- Proficient in using modern diagnostic equipment and computer systems for record-keeping
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
- Full UK driving license
Preferred Qualifications
- Additional MOT testing classes (e.g., Class 5)
- NVQ Level 3 in Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair or equivalent
- Experience with compliance audits or quality assurance in an automotive setting
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
