Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate company delivery vehicles (vans, light trucks) on planned routes throughout the Montreal area.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles, ensuring all safety and mechanical standards are met.
- Accurately load, unload, and secure merchandise, verifying order contents against delivery manifests.
- Deliver products to designated customer locations in a timely and professional manner.
- Obtain necessary signatures and complete delivery paperwork with attention to detail.
- Maintain clear and effective communication with dispatch, warehouse staff, and customers regarding delivery status or issues.
- Adhere strictly to all traffic laws, company safety policies, and driving regulations.
- Assist with warehouse duties, including inventory management and order picking, when not on delivery routes.
- Keep delivery vehicles clean and organized, reporting any maintenance needs promptly.
Required Skills
- Valid Class 5 Quebec driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Minimum of 2 years of professional driving experience, preferably in a delivery or logistics setting.
- Ability to lift and carry heavy items regularly (up to 50 lbs) and perform physical tasks associated with loading/unloading.
- Strong geographical knowledge of the Montreal area and ability to navigate efficiently.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills to meet delivery schedules.
- Demonstrated commitment to safety and adherence to traffic laws.
- Effective communication skills in English or French to interact with customers and team members.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bilingualism (English and French) is a significant asset.
- Experience with handheld scanning devices and route optimization software.
- Familiarity with various types of delivery vehicles (e.g., cube vans, sprinter vans).
- Customer service experience in a direct client-facing role.
