Hiring.zycto is seeking dedicated and reliable Early Morning Waste Management Laborers to join our essential team in the vibrant Harbourfront area of Toronto. Key Responsibilities
- Collect and load waste materials from designated residential and commercial bins/containers onto collection vehicles.
- Operate compaction mechanisms and other equipment on the waste collection truck safely and efficiently.
- Navigate assigned routes in the Harbourfront area, following all traffic laws and safety protocols.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles and equipment, reporting any malfunctions or safety concerns.
- Ensure proper segregation and disposal of different waste streams as required.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, including keeping the truck cab tidy.
- Adhere strictly to all company safety policies and procedures, including wearing appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors regarding route progress, issues, or delays.
- Provide respectful and professional interaction with the public when necessary.
Required Skills
- Ability to perform strenuous physical work in all weather conditions for extended periods.
- Strong sense of punctuality and reliability for early morning shifts.
- Basic understanding of safety procedures and practices.
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
- Must be able to lift, push, and pull heavy objects (up to 50 lbs) repeatedly.
- Valid G Class Driver's License or equivalent, with a clean driving record (preferred, but not always required for all roles within waste management labor).
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in waste collection, general labor, or outdoor manual work.
- Familiarity with waste management practices and safety regulations.
- Knowledge of the Toronto Harbourfront area streets and neighborhoods.
