Job Description

Are you passionate about inspiring young minds through the world of technology? Hiring.zycto is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Part-Time Coding Instructor to join our vibrant team in L’Amoreaux, Toronto. This is an exceptional opportunity for an individual who loves working with children and possesses a solid foundation in various coding concepts and platforms. As a Coding Instructor for Kids, you will be instrumental in introducing children aged 6-14 to the exciting realms of computational thinking, problem-solving, and creative development using engaging, age-appropriate tools.

You will be responsible for delivering our carefully designed curriculum, which includes visual block-based coding (like Scratch), introductory Python, game development (e.g., Roblox Studio), and creative projects in Minecraft Education. Our goal is to make learning fun, interactive, and relevant, sparking a lifelong interest in STEM fields. You’ll guide students through hands-on activities, mentor them in project-based learning, and help them overcome challenges with patience and encouragement. We believe in fostering a positive and inclusive classroom environment where every child feels empowered to explore, experiment, and express their ideas through code. Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging, interactive, and age-appropriate coding lessons to small groups of children (ages 6-14).
  • Facilitate hands-on activities, projects, and challenges using platforms such as Scratch, Python, Roblox Studio, and Minecraft Education.
  • Provide constructive feedback and personalized support to students, adapting teaching methods to cater to diverse learning styles and paces.
  • Maintain a positive, inclusive, and stimulating classroom environment that encourages curiosity, collaboration, and problem-solving.
  • Communicate effectively with parents regarding student progress, achievements, and any concerns.
  • Assist in the development and refinement of curriculum materials, ensuring they remain current and engaging.
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of all students during class time.

Required Skills

  • Proficiency in at least two age-appropriate coding platforms (e.g., Scratch, Python, JavaScript, Roblox Studio, Minecraft Education).
  • Demonstrated experience working with children or youth in an educational, camp, or mentorship setting (minimum 1 year).
  • Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain complex concepts clearly and simply.
  • Strong classroom management abilities and a patient, enthusiastic demeanor.
  • A passion for technology, education, and inspiring young learners.
  • Ability to adapt quickly and think creatively to solve unexpected challenges during lessons.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in or possess a degree/diploma in Computer Science, Education, Engineering, or a related STEM field.
  • Previous experience teaching coding or technology subjects to children.
  • Familiarity with educational technology tools and learning management systems.
  • First Aid and CPR certification.
  • Multilingual abilities (e.g., French, Mandarin, Cantonese) are a bonus.
