Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate intimately with clients and event planners to conceptualize and develop unique event décor themes and comprehensive styling plans.
  • Proactively research, source, select, and procure a wide range of high-quality decorative items, including bespoke floral arrangements, sophisticated lighting solutions, premium linens, stylish furniture, and distinctive props.
  • Create detailed décor proposals, inspiring mood boards, and realistic visual mock-ups to present to clients for informed approval and feedback.
  • Manage the end-to-end logistics of décor inventory, ensuring all items are meticulously accounted for, impeccably maintained, and perfectly prepared for each specific event.
  • Safely transport, expertly set up, and flawlessly style event venues according to approved design plans, strictly adhering to tight timelines and rigorous safety guidelines.
  • Oversee and actively participate in on-site decoration, including the intricate installation of complex pieces and the precise placement of all decorative elements.
  • Supervise, mentor, and provide clear guidance to junior decorators or temporary event staff during both the intensive setup and efficient breakdown phases.
  • Dismantle and carefully pack up all décor items post-event, ensuring their secure and undamaged return to storage.
  • Maintain an up-to-date and informed knowledge of current event design trends, innovative materials, and cutting-edge techniques within the industry.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience (minimum 2 years) as an Event Decorator, Venue Stylist, or a similar hands-on creative role.
  • Exceptional creativity, innovative thinking, and a strong, diverse portfolio showcasing varied design capabilities.
  • Profound understanding and application of design principles, color theory, and effective spatial arrangement.
  • Demonstrated ability to work efficiently and effectively under pressure, consistently meeting strict deadlines.
  • Excellent physical stamina and the ability to safely lift, carry, and maneuver decorative items.
  • Strong verbal and written communication and outstanding interpersonal skills for seamless client and team collaboration.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and an unwavering commitment to delivering consistently high-quality, polished results.
  • Robust problem-solving abilities to proactively address and resolve any on-site challenges effectively.

Preferred Qualifications

  • A formal degree or recognized certification in Interior Design, Floral Design, Event Management, or a closely related creative field.
  • Proficiency with industry-standard design software (e.g., SketchUp, CAD, Adobe Creative Suite) for visualizing and presenting concepts.
  • Possession of a full, clean UK driving license and access to reliable transportation for frequent venue travel.
  • Documented experience across a diverse range of event types (e.g., high-end weddings, large corporate events, public festivals).
  • Familiarity with local suppliers, vendors, and event spaces within the Nottinghamshire area.
