Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine grounds maintenance tasks, including mowing, strimming, edging, weeding, pruning, and hedge cutting.
- Plant, cultivate, and maintain a wide variety of plants, shrubs, trees, and flowers.
- Monitor plant health, identify common pests and diseases, and apply appropriate treatments.
- Prepare and maintain planting beds, including soil cultivation, mulching, and fertilisation.
- Operate and maintain a range of gardening machinery and equipment safely and efficiently.
- Ensure all work is carried out to the highest horticultural standards and in compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Assist with the design and implementation of new landscaping projects as required.
- Manage irrigation systems and ensure efficient water usage.
- Undertake litter picking, leaf clearance, and general site tidiness.
- Provide excellent customer service when interacting with clients or the public on-site.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in professional gardening or grounds maintenance.
- Solid knowledge of horticultural practices, plant identification, and plant care.
- Proficiency in operating various gardening machinery (e.g., mowers, strimmers, hedge trimmers).
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to high-quality workmanship.
- Physical fitness and ability to perform demanding outdoor work in various weather conditions.
- Excellent time management and organisational skills.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
Preferred Qualifications
- NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Horticulture, Landscaping, or a related field.
- PA1/PA6 Spraying Certificates.
- Experience with chainsaw operation (CS30/31 or equivalent).
- First Aid certification.
- Knowledge of sustainable gardening practices.
