Key Responsibilities
- Perform general maintenance and repair tasks across various trades, including plumbing, basic electrical, carpentry, painting, and general building fabric repairs.
- Respond promptly and efficiently to maintenance requests and troubleshoot issues reported by staff or occupants.
- Conduct routine inspections of premises and equipment to identify and resolve potential problems before they escalate.
- Execute preventive maintenance programs to ensure the longevity and optimal performance of all systems and assets.
- Assist with the installation, assembly, and relocation of furniture, fixtures, and equipment as needed.
- Maintain accurate records of all maintenance activities, repairs, and service schedules.
- Ensure all work is carried out in compliance with health and safety regulations and company policies.
- Manage and organize maintenance supplies, tools, and equipment, ensuring availability and proper storage.
- Collaborate with external contractors or specialists for complex repairs or projects when required.
- Provide support for special projects, events, or facility upgrades as directed by management.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Maintenance Worker or Handyman with a strong focus on repairs and fixing.
- Proficiency in basic plumbing (e.g., fixing leaks, unclogging drains).
- Competency in basic electrical work (e.g., replacing light fixtures, switches – non-certified work).
- Skilled in carpentry, including minor repairs to doors, windows, and furniture.
- Experience with painting, plastering, and general decorating.
- Ability to use a variety of hand and power tools safely and effectively.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations pertinent to maintenance work.
Preferred Qualifications
- Relevant vocational qualification or apprenticeship in a trade.
- First Aid certification.
