Hiring.zycto is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Funeral Director to join our professional team in Dunbar-Southlands, Vancouver. Your role will involve a comprehensive range of duties, from initial contact with bereaved families to the final disposition. You will be responsible for guiding families through all aspects of funeral arrangements, including discussing service options, coordinating logistics, preparing necessary documentation, and overseeing visitations, ceremonies, and burials or cremations. This position demands a meticulous eye for detail, strong organizational skills, and the profound ability to communicate sensitively and effectively with diverse individuals and groups. Key Responsibilities

  • Meet with families to discuss and arrange funeral, cremation, or memorial services, explaining options and costs.
  • Embalm, dress, cosmetize, and casket the deceased with the utmost respect and adherence to professional standards.
  • Prepare and process all necessary legal and administrative documents, including death certificates and permits.
  • Coordinate and oversee all aspects of visitations, funeral ceremonies, memorial services, and committal services.
  • Manage the transfer of remains to and from our facility, ensuring timely and respectful transportation.
  • Provide compassionate grief support and resources to bereaved families.
  • Work collaboratively with other staff members, clergy, officiants, and external vendors.
  • Maintain the cleanliness and professional appearance of the funeral home facilities.
  • Ensure compliance with all local, provincial, and federal regulations regarding funeral practices.
  • Handle administrative tasks, including record-keeping, billing, and scheduling.

Required Skills

  • Licensed Funeral Director and/or Embalmer in British Columbia
  • Minimum 4 years of experience as a licensed Funeral Director
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Profound empathy, sensitivity, and discretion when interacting with grieving families
  • Strong organizational abilities and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a dedicated team
  • Proficiency in basic computer applications (MS Office Suite)
  • Valid driver's license and a clean driving record

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with diverse cultural and religious funeral traditions
  • Post-secondary education in funeral service or a related field
  • Familiarity with local Vancouver community resources for grief support
  • Bilingualism (English plus another language common in Vancouver) is an asset
