Key Responsibilities

  • Assist skilled tradespeople (carpenters, masons, electricians, etc.) with various tasks on construction sites.
  • Load and unload materials, tools, and equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Prepare construction sites by cleaning debris, trash, and hazardous materials.
  • Operate basic hand and power tools under supervision, adhering strictly to safety guidelines.
  • Dig trenches, backfill excavations, and compact earth as directed.
  • Erect and dismantle scaffolding, temporary structures, and barricades, following safety protocols.
  • Help with pouring and spreading concrete, asphalt, and other materials.
  • Perform general clean-up and maintenance of construction sites to ensure a tidy and safe work environment.
  • Follow all company safety policies and procedures, wearing appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times.

Required Skills

  • Strong physical stamina and ability to lift heavy objects (up to 50 lbs / 23 kg) regularly.
  • Willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions (heat, cold, rain).
  • Eagerness to learn new skills and follow instructions diligently.
  • Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic and a commitment to completing tasks.
  • Basic understanding of safety procedures or a strong willingness to learn them quickly.
  • Ability to work effectively and collaboratively as part of a diverse team.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience in a physically demanding role (e.g., landscaping, warehousing, manufacturing).
  • Familiarity with common construction tools and equipment.
  • Valid driver’s license (not mandatory but considered an asset for site mobility).
  • WHMIS certification or a willingness to obtain it promptly upon hiring.
  • Working at Heights certification or a willingness to obtain it promptly upon hiring.
