Job Description

Hiring.zycto is seeking a passionate, dedicated, and strategic Environmental Activist to lead impactful campaigns from our New Westminster office. This pivotal role is perfect for an individual with a proven track record in environmental advocacy, community organizing, and campaign execution. As an Environmental Activist – Campaign, you will be at the forefront of our efforts to address pressing environmental issues in British Columbia and beyond. Your mission will be to develop, launch, and manage campaigns that inspire public action, influence policy, and drive tangible change towards a sustainable future.

This role demands a blend of strategic thinking, hands-on organizing, and compelling communication. You will be responsible for identifying critical environmental challenges, crafting persuasive narratives, and mobilizing diverse communities to advocate for solutions. From grassroots outreach and public speaking to engaging with media and policymakers, you will be a central figure in our advocacy efforts. Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, plan, and execute strategic environmental campaigns from inception to completion.
  • Conduct thorough research and analysis on environmental issues to inform campaign objectives and messaging.
  • Organize and lead public outreach events, workshops, demonstrations, and community meetings.
  • Engage with government officials, policymakers, industry representatives, and other key stakeholders to advocate for policy changes.
  • Recruit, train, and empower volunteers and community members to participate actively in campaigns.
  • Craft compelling communication materials, including press releases, reports, social media content, and educational resources.
  • Monitor legislative and regulatory developments pertinent to environmental protection in British Columbia and Canada.
  • Represent Hiring.zycto at public forums, conferences, and media engagements.

Required Skills

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in environmental activism, campaign management, or community organizing.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and execute impactful advocacy campaigns.
  • Exceptional public speaking, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong research, analytical, and critical thinking abilities.
  • Proficiency in utilizing digital advocacy tools, social media, and campaign software.
  • Proven ability to motivate, lead, and work collaboratively with diverse teams and volunteers.
  • Excellent written communication skills, with experience in drafting reports, proposals, and press materials.
  • Valid driver's license and access to reliable transportation for local and regional travel.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Studies, Political Science, Communications, Public Relations, or a related field.
  • Familiarity with environmental legislation and policy in British Columbia.
  • Experience in media relations and building relationships with journalists.
  • Background in fundraising, grant writing, or donor engagement for non-profit organizations.
  • Fluency in additional languages relevant to the local community.
