Key Responsibilities

  • Manage full-cycle accounting for a portfolio of properties, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and bank reconciliations.
  • Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with relevant accounting standards.
  • Conduct variance analysis between actual and budgeted results, providing clear explanations and recommendations.
  • Assist with budgeting and forecasting processes, collaborating with property managers and other stakeholders.
  • Process tenant billings, lease abstracts, and monitor rent collections.
  • Prepare year-end working papers and support external auditors during annual audits.
  • Ensure compliance with all tax regulations, including GST/HST filings and property tax assessments.
  • Maintain organized and accurate financial records and documentation.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of accounting processes and systems.
  • Provide financial reports and analysis to management as required.

Required Skills

  • Minimum 3 years of progressive experience in property accounting or real estate finance.
  • Strong understanding of full-cycle accounting principles, specifically within the real estate sector.
  • Proficiency with Yardi, MRI, or similar property management accounting software.
  • Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, data analysis).
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Proven ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a remote environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to analyze financial data and prepare clear, concise reports.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • CPA designation or actively pursuing.
  • Experience with various property types (e.g., commercial, residential, industrial).
  • Familiarity with Canadian accounting standards (ASPE or IFRS).
