Hiring.zycto is seeking a dedicated and skilled Seasonal Bike Mechanic to join our partner’s team in the charming and bustling Old Montreal district. This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic individual to contribute to the vibrant tourism and recreational scene of Montreal, ensuring our fleet of bicycles is always in peak condition for rentals and tours. As a Bike Mechanic, you will be the backbone of our operations during the high season, playing a critical role in customer satisfaction and safety.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform routine maintenance, inspections, and repairs on a diverse fleet of rental bicycles.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical issues, including brake adjustments, gear indexing, tire repairs, and chain replacements.
  • Assemble and prepare new bicycles for service, ensuring they meet safety and performance standards.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workshop environment.
  • Manage inventory of parts and tools, notifying management when supplies are low.
  • Assist with bike fitting and provide basic operational instructions to customers as needed.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and company maintenance standards.
  • Provide exceptional customer service, answering mechanical questions and offering helpful advice.
  • Collaborate with the rental and tour teams to ensure seamless daily operations.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience as a bike mechanic, preferably in a rental or retail setting.
  • Strong knowledge of bicycle components, repair techniques, and industry standards.
  • Ability to diagnose and resolve a wide range of mechanical issues efficiently.
  • Proficiency with various tools and equipment used in bike repair.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication skills in English (French is a significant asset).
  • Physical ability to lift bicycles and stand for extended periods.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Completion of a recognized bike mechanic certification program.
  • Experience with electric bikes (e-bikes) or specialized touring bikes.
  • Bilingualism (English and French).
  • A passion for cycling and familiarity with Montreal's cycling routes.
  • Previous experience in a customer-facing role within the tourism or recreation industry.
