Key Responsibilities

  • Provide person-centred care to residents throughout the night, ensuring their comfort, dignity, and safety.
  • Assist residents with personal care tasks, including washing, dressing, and toileting, always maintaining privacy and respect.
  • Support residents with mobility and transfers, using appropriate equipment and techniques.
  • Administer or prompt residents with their medication as per care plans and training, accurately documenting dosages.
  • Conduct regular welfare checks and observations of residents, reporting any changes in condition or concerns to the senior staff immediately.
  • Respond promptly and effectively to call bells and emergency situations, providing reassurance and necessary assistance.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date care records and documentation.
  • Assist with light domestic duties and ensure the cleanliness and tidiness of residents' rooms and communal areas.
  • Provide emotional support and companionship to residents, especially during periods of wakefulness or distress.
  • Adhere strictly to all company policies, procedures, and health and safety regulations.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience in a care setting (minimum 12 months is preferred).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a compassionate and patient approach.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team during night shifts.
  • Strong observational skills and the ability to identify and respond to changes in residents' conditions.
  • Reliability, punctuality, and a strong work ethic.
  • Understanding of care plans and ability to follow instructions accurately.
  • Basic IT literacy for record-keeping.
  • Eligibility to work in the UK.

Preferred Qualifications

  • NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care.
  • First Aid certification.
  • Manual handling training.
  • Experience with dementia care.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding vulnerable adults.
