Job Description

Hiring.zycto is seeking an experienced and dynamic Transport Manager – Logistics to join our operations in Côte-Saint-Luc, Montreal. This pivotal role is responsible for overseeing all aspects of our transportation and logistics operations, ensuring efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and timely delivery of goods. Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee and manage daily transportation operations, including dispatch, routing, and scheduling to ensure optimal efficiency and on-time delivery.
  • Develop and implement strategic logistics plans to optimize fleet utilization, reduce operational costs, and improve service levels.
  • Lead, mentor, and manage a team of drivers, dispatchers, and administrative staff, fostering a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure strict compliance with all local, provincial, and federal transportation regulations, including Hours of Service (HOS), dangerous goods, and environmental standards.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) such as delivery performance, fuel consumption, maintenance costs, and productivity, generating reports and actionable insights.
  • Negotiate contracts and maintain strong relationships with third-party carriers, suppliers, and vendors to ensure competitive pricing and reliable service.
  • Manage fleet maintenance schedules, vehicle inspections, and repairs to ensure maximum uptime and safety of all company assets.
  • Identify and implement innovative solutions and technologies to enhance logistics processes, improve efficiency, and respond to evolving market demands.
  • Develop and manage departmental budgets, ensuring cost-effective operations without compromising service quality or safety.

Required Skills

  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in transportation or logistics management, with proven leadership responsibilities.
  • Demonstrated expertise in fleet management, route optimization, and logistics software (TMS).
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a high-performing team.
  • Exceptional problem-solving and analytical abilities, capable of making data-driven decisions under pressure.
  • Thorough knowledge of Canadian transportation regulations, including provincial and federal compliance requirements.
  • Proficiency in English and French (bilingualism is highly valued in Montreal).
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Certification in transportation or logistics (e.g., CITT, SCMP).
  • Experience with specific Transportation Management Systems (TMS) and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software.
  • Proven track record of implementing cost-saving initiatives and process improvements.
  • Experience working with cross-border logistics (Canada-US).
