Job Description
Hiring.zycto is seeking dedicated and experienced Long Haul Drivers to join our growing team in Etobicoke, Toronto. Our long-haul drivers are the backbone of our operations. You will operate modern, well-maintained tractor-trailer units, ensuring all loads are secured correctly and delivered on schedule. Adherence to all provincial (MTO) and federal (DOT) transportation regulations, including Hours of Service (HOS) rules, is paramount. This role demands a high level of independence, excellent problem-solving skills on the road, and meticulous attention to detail in maintaining accurate logbooks, manifests, and electronic logging devices (ELDs). Key Responsibilities
- Operate tractor-trailer units safely and efficiently for long-haul routes across Canada and potentially the USA.
- Perform thorough pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip inspections of vehicles and equipment.
- Adhere strictly to all Hours of Service (HOS) regulations, MTO, DOT, and other applicable transportation laws.
- Secure cargo properly using appropriate methods to prevent damage or shifting during transit.
- Maintain accurate electronic logbooks, trip sheets, and other required documentation.
- Communicate regularly and effectively with dispatch regarding pick-ups, deliveries, delays, and any on-road issues.
- Monitor vehicle performance and mechanical fitness, reporting any malfunctions or necessary repairs.
- Ensure timely and safe delivery of goods to designated locations.
- Provide exceptional customer service during loading and unloading interactions.
Required Skills
- Valid Class 1/AZ commercial driver's license with a clean abstract.
- Minimum 36 months of verified long-haul truck driving experience.
- Strong knowledge of MTO/DOT regulations, HOS rules, and safe driving practices.
- Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting, bending, and securing cargo.
- Proficiency in English for communication and documentation.
- Excellent spatial awareness and maneuvering skills.
- Basic mechanical aptitude for minor roadside repairs and troubleshooting.
- Proven track record of reliability and punctuality.
Preferred Qualifications
- Cross-border experience with a valid FAST card.
- Experience with various types of freight (e.g., dry van, reefer, flatbed).
- Certification in First Aid and CPR.
- Fluency in additional languages (e.g., Punjabi, French).
- Familiarity with modern ELD systems and in-cab technology.
