Key Responsibilities
- Operate company vehicles safely and efficiently, strictly adhering to all traffic laws and regulations.
- Respond promptly to dispatch calls and instructions for transportation requests, demonstrating excellent availability.
- Transport goods or passengers to specified locations within the designated service area, ensuring timely arrivals.
- Ensure the secure loading and unloading of cargo, if applicable, meticulously verifying accuracy against manifests.
- Maintain accurate records of deliveries, mileage, fuel consumption, and promptly report any vehicle maintenance issues.
- Perform thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles, identifying and reporting any defects or malfunctions immediately.
- Provide exceptional customer service, maintaining a professional, courteous, and helpful demeanor at all times with clients and dispatch.
- Adhere to company policies and procedures regarding safety, vehicle operation, and client interaction to uphold our high standards.
- Be available on short notice for assignments, demonstrating flexibility and reliability to meet operational demands.
- Keep the vehicle clean, tidy, and in optimal operating condition.
Required Skills
- Valid Florida Driver's License with a consistently clean driving record for at least the past three years.
- Proven ability to navigate local and regional routes efficiently using GPS, maps, and local knowledge.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills, with the capacity to prioritize tasks effectively.
- Strong communication and interpersonal abilities, essential for interacting with dispatch and clients.
- Ability to work independently and make sound, responsible decisions on the road.
- Physical capability to lift and carry items up to 50 lbs, if applicable to cargo type, with proper lifting techniques.
- Reliable personal transportation to and from the dispatch location, ensuring punctuality for shifts.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience as a delivery driver, courier, professional chauffeur, or similar transportation role.
- Extensive familiarity with the Largo and greater Pinellas County road network, including common routes and alternative paths.
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent, demonstrating foundational literacy and numeracy.
- Proven customer service experience in a client-facing role, with a focus on problem-solving and satisfaction.
- Ability to operate different types of vehicles (e.g., vans, sedans, small trucks) as required by various assignments.
