Job Description

Hiring.zycto is seeking a highly skilled and passionate Technical Writer – Documentation Specialist to join our dynamic team in Stockport. As a Technical Writer, you will take ownership of creating, maintaining, and enhancing a wide array of technical content, including user manuals, API documentation, online help articles, release notes, and knowledge base entries. You’ll collaborate closely with our engineering, product management, and customer support teams, immersing yourself in the details of our platforms to produce accurate, user-friendly, and comprehensive documentation. We are looking for someone who not only writes exceptionally well but also has a keen eye for detail, understands information architecture, and is committed to continuous improvement in documentation practices. Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, write, and edit high-quality technical documentation, including user guides, API documentation, release notes, FAQs, and online help content.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with software engineers, product managers, and QA teams to gather information, understand product features, and ensure accuracy of content.
  • Organize and maintain documentation repositories, ensuring content is up-to-date, easy to find, and consistent in style and tone.
  • Translate complex technical information into clear, concise, and engaging language suitable for various target audiences.
  • Participate in product planning meetings to identify documentation requirements and contribute to product design from a user experience perspective.
  • Implement and adhere to documentation best practices, style guides, and terminology standards.
  • Gather feedback from users and internal teams to continuously improve the quality and usability of documentation.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience as a Technical Writer or Documentation Specialist in a technology-focused environment.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with a strong command of English grammar and style.
  • Ability to understand and explain complex technical concepts clearly and concisely.
  • Proficiency with documentation tools (e.g., Confluence, GitBook, Sphinx, Markdown, DITA, XML).
  • Experience with content management systems (CMS) and version control systems (e.g., Git).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, agile environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in English, Technical Communication, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Experience documenting APIs, SDKs, or developer tools.
  • Familiarity with software development lifecycle (SDLC) and Agile methodologies.
  • Knowledge of UI/UX principles and their application in technical documentation.
  • Portfolio of relevant technical writing samples.
