Job Description

Hiring.zycto is seeking a diligent and experienced Groundskeeper – Estate Maintenance professional to join our dedicated team in Cheadle Hulme, Manchester. This is a pivotal role within our operations, ensuring the aesthetic appeal and structural integrity of the various landscapes and grounds we manage. As a Groundskeeper, you will be responsible for the comprehensive upkeep of lawns, gardens, pathways, and other exterior areas across our diverse portfolio of estates. This involves a variety of tasks, from routine horticultural duties to proactive maintenance and seasonal preparations. We are looking for someone who takes immense pride in their work, has a keen eye for detail, and is capable of working efficiently both independently and collaboratively. Key Responsibilities

  • Perform all aspects of grounds maintenance including mowing, edging, strimming, and blowing across diverse landscapes.
  • Undertake seasonal planting, pruning of shrubs and trees, weeding, and general garden bed maintenance.
  • Maintain hedges to a high standard, ensuring neatness and appropriate growth.
  • Ensure pathways, driveways, and other hard landscaping areas are clean, safe, and free from debris.
  • Operate and conduct basic maintenance checks on a range of groundskeeping machinery and tools.
  • Implement winter maintenance procedures, including gritting and snow clearance when necessary.
  • Manage irrigation systems and perform watering tasks to ensure plant health.
  • Conduct regular litter picking and waste removal to maintain a pristine environment.
  • Identify and report any maintenance issues, hazards, or property damage promptly.
  • Adhere strictly to health and safety guidelines and company policies at all times.

Required Skills

  • Minimum of 2 years of proven experience in groundskeeping or estate maintenance.
  • Proficiency in operating and maintaining a variety of grounds care equipment (e.g., mowers, strimmers, hedge trimmers).
  • Solid understanding of horticultural practices, plant care, and seasonal garden tasks.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high standards of presentation.
  • Excellent physical fitness and capability to perform manual outdoor tasks in varying weather conditions.
  • A full, clean UK driving license is essential for this role.

Preferred Qualifications

  • NVQ Level 2 or equivalent qualification in Amenity Horticulture or a related field.
  • PA1/PA6 spraying certificates for pesticide application.
  • Experience with chainsaw operation, accompanied by relevant certification.
  • Current First Aid certification.
  • Knowledge of local flora and fauna relevant to the Manchester region.
