Job Description

Hiring.zycto is seeking a dedicated and vigilant Facility Security Assistant to join our team in the historic Old Port of Montreal. As a Facility Security Assistant, you will play a critical role in maintaining a secure and safe environment for our employees, visitors, and assets. Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve a blend of proactive monitoring, vigilant patrolling, and responsive action to ensure the integrity of our facilities. You will be trained on our comprehensive security protocols and procedures, utilizing state-of-the-art surveillance equipment and access control systems. Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct regular patrols of the facility, both indoor and outdoor, to detect and deter security breaches, unauthorized entry, or potential hazards.
  • Monitor surveillance cameras and alarm systems, promptly reporting any suspicious activities or system malfunctions.
  • Control access to the facility, verifying credentials for all personnel and visitors entering and exiting the premises.
  • Respond effectively to alarms, emergencies, and incidents, following established protocols to mitigate risks and ensure safety.
  • Maintain accurate daily logs, incident reports, and other documentation related to security activities.
  • Provide assistance to employees and visitors, including directions and emergency support, while maintaining a professional and courteous demeanor.
  • Enforce company security policies and procedures, ensuring compliance by all individuals on site.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external emergency services as needed during critical situations.
  • Participate in ongoing training and development programs to enhance security knowledge and skills.

Required Skills

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated reliability and a strong work ethic.
  • Excellent observational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Basic computer proficiency for operating security systems and writing reports.
  • Physical ability to stand, walk, and patrol for extended periods.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain relevant security licenses/certifications as required by provincial regulations (e.g., Guard Card).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience in a customer service or public-facing role.
  • Basic first aid and CPR certification.
  • Knowledge of common security procedures and best practices.
  • Bilingualism (English and French) is a strong asset for our Montreal location.
