Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive compliance policies and procedures in line with current regulatory requirements and industry standards.
- Conduct regular internal audits to assess the effectiveness of compliance controls and identify areas for improvement, preparing detailed reports on findings.
- Provide expert advice and guidance to management and staff on a broad range of legal, regulatory, and governance issues, including data protection, financial crime, and corporate accountability.
- Monitor changes in regulatory landscapes and proactively update internal frameworks to ensure ongoing compliance, communicating key changes to relevant stakeholders.
- Manage and oversee the company's governance framework, ensuring adherence to corporate policies, ethical guidelines, and best practices in board and committee operations.
- Liaise with external auditors, legal counsel, and regulatory bodies as required, facilitating information exchange and ensuring timely responses to inquiries.
- Design and deliver compliance training programs for employees, fostering a strong culture of awareness and accountability across the organization.
- Investigate and report on compliance breaches or incidents, recommending corrective actions and implementing preventative measures.
- Maintain meticulous records of compliance activities, audits, and resolutions to demonstrate due diligence and regulatory adherence.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Law, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a compliance, audit, legal, or governance role, preferably within the financial services sector.
- In-depth knowledge of UK regulatory frameworks (e.g., FCA rules, GDPR, Companies Act).
- Proven ability to interpret complex regulations and translate them into practical company policies and procedures.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, capable of influencing stakeholders at all levels.
- Proficiency in compliance management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional certification such as ICA Diploma in Compliance, CAMS, or a relevant legal qualification (e.g., LPC).
