Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate buses on designated routes and schedules in Oldbury and surrounding Birmingham areas.
- Adhere strictly to timetables, ensuring punctuality and efficient service delivery.
- Provide exceptional customer service, assisting passengers with enquiries, fares, and accessibility needs.
- Process ticket sales and collect fares accurately using onboard equipment.
- Conduct thorough pre- and post-shift vehicle inspections, reporting any defects promptly.
- Maintain the cleanliness and tidiness of the bus interior.
- Comply with all traffic laws, company policies, and health & safety regulations.
- Handle passenger queries and challenging situations professionally and courteously.
- Report any incidents, accidents, or significant delays to the control centre immediately.
- Operate specialist equipment such as ramps and wheelchair restraints as required.
Required Skills
- Valid UK PCV (Category D) driving license.
- Full Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) qualification.
- Excellent driving record with no more than 6 penalty points.
- Demonstrable commitment to road safety and passenger welfare.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective customer interaction.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and public holidays.
- Reliability, punctuality, and a strong work ethic.
- Good geographical knowledge of Oldbury and the wider Birmingham area, or willingness to learn quickly.
Preferred Qualifications
- Minimum of 1 year of experience as a professional bus driver.
- Experience with electronic ticketing systems and cash handling.
- Familiarity with local public transport network regulations.
- First Aid certification.
