Job Description

Hiring.zycto is seeking a dedicated Freight Forwarder to join our vibrant team in Sutton, Birmingham. In this pivotal role, you will be instrumental in coordinating the seamless movement of goods across various global destinations, ensuring compliance with all international shipping regulations and customs procedures. You will manage the end-to-end freight forwarding process, from initial booking and documentation to tracking and delivery, handling both import and export operations across air, sea, and road freight. Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and coordinate import and export shipments across air, sea, and road freight.
  • Prepare, check, and process all necessary shipping documentation, including Bills of Lading, Air Waybills, customs declarations, and commercial invoices.
  • Liaise effectively with carriers, agents, customs authorities, and clients to ensure smooth operations and timely deliveries.
  • Negotiate freight rates with carriers to secure competitive pricing for clients.
  • Track and trace shipments, providing regular updates to clients on their cargo status.
  • Ensure strict adherence to all international trade compliance, customs regulations, and company procedures.
  • Handle customs clearance procedures, tariff classifications, and duty/VAT calculations.
  • Resolve any operational issues, delays, or discrepancies that may arise during transit.
  • Process invoices, manage billing, and maintain accurate financial records related to shipments.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, offering exceptional customer service and solutions.
  • Utilize freight management software and other internal systems efficiently.

Required Skills

  • Minimum 2 years of proven experience in freight forwarding (import/export).
  • Solid understanding of international shipping regulations, incoterms, and customs procedures.
  • Proficiency in preparing and managing all relevant shipping documentation.
  • Strong negotiation and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Customer-focused approach with problem-solving abilities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
  • Experience with freight management software (e.g., CargoWise, Scope).
  • Knowledge of specific regional customs requirements (e.g., EU, US, Asia).
  • Relevant industry certifications (e.g., BIFA, FIATA).
  • Multilingual abilities, particularly in a European or Asian language.
