Job Description

Hiring.zycto is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Optical Assistant to join our thriving eye clinic in Boston Spa, Leeds. As an Optical Assistant, you will be the welcoming face of our clinic, providing crucial support to our Optometrists and ensuring every patient receives outstanding care from the moment they step through our doors. Your role will involve a blend of direct patient interaction, administrative tasks, and technical assistance, making each day varied and rewarding. You’ll play a pivotal role in guiding patients through their optical journey, from initial pre-screening to selecting the perfect eyewear. Key Responsibilities

  • Greet patients warmly, manage appointment schedules, and handle patient registration efficiently.
  • Conduct pre-screening tests using specialist optical equipment, accurately recording results for the Optometrist.
  • Assist patients in selecting frames and lenses, providing expert advice on styles, materials, and suitability.
  • Perform adjustments and repairs to spectacles, ensuring a comfortable and precise fit for patients.
  • Process orders for spectacles and contact lenses, managing stock and ensuring timely delivery.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and inviting clinic environment, including display areas and testing rooms.
  • Handle patient enquiries in person and over the phone, providing accurate information and exceptional customer service.
  • Process payments, manage insurance claims, and maintain meticulous patient records.
  • Support the Optometrist during examinations, preparing equipment and ensuring a smooth patient flow.
  • Actively participate in ongoing training and professional development to stay abreast of industry advancements and best practices.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience in a customer-facing role, preferably within a retail or healthcare setting.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a friendly and approachable demeanor.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in basic computer skills and willingness to learn optical software.
  • A genuine interest in optics and a commitment to providing outstanding patient care.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience as an Optical Assistant or within an optician's practice.
  • Knowledge of optical products, lens types, and frame adjustments.
  • NVQ Level 2/3 in Health and Social Care or equivalent customer service qualification.
  • First Aid certification.
